LSI Logic Names Andrew Hughes Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
MILPITAS, Calif., May 19, 2006 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that it has named assistant general counsel Andrew S. Hughes to the post of vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Hughes succeeds David Pursel who retired in April.
"Andrew has an exceptional legal mind and a genuine knack for building consensus," said Abhi Talwalkar, president and chief executive officer, LSI Logic. "I look forward to having his counsel as we shape our market-driven strategy."
Hughes, 40, becomes general counsel following an interim period of service acting in this capacity after David Pursel's retirement. "We are grateful to David for a decade of invaluable service and contributions to our business," said Talwalkar. "We are fortunate to have had the benefit of his advice and counsel."
Hughes joined LSI in 2000 as assistant general counsel and most recently served as director of the company's commercial law group. In addition, he has been responsible for all corporate litigation matters and has negotiated multiple strategic acquisitions for the company. He has also served as assistant corporate secretary.
"I am excited to join the senior management team at this pivotal time in the history of LSI," said Hughes. "With our new focus on the storage and consumer markets—delivering 'silicon-to-system' solutions to our customers—we're positioning ourselves for growth and a future of opportunities."
Prior to joining LSI, Hughes served as division counsel for Harris Corporation, a multinational high technology and manufacturing company. He began his legal career in 1990 at England, Whitfield, Schröeder & Tredway, LLP, first as an associate and then as a partner. Hughes earned his J.D. and MBA degrees from Santa Clara University and his bachelor's degree from UCLA.
