LSI Names New Fellows
LSI Fellows Bring Extensive Engineering Expertise in Storage and Consumer Technologies
MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 1, 2006 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE:LSI) today announced the appointment of two new Fellows. Both recently joined LSI and bring more than 20 combined years of experience in the development of consumer and storage solutions.
The LSI Fellows position recognizes the highest level of engineering achievement and leadership within the company's engineering organization.

"Their deep technical knowledge is helping us expand our position as the leading provider of silicon-to-systems solutions for the storage and consumer markets."
LSI Fellows are appointed based on criteria measuring accomplishments in the invention of world-class technical solutions, leadership in the creation and development of industry standards, and academic achievement.
The new appointees add their technical experience to the existing team of five LSI Fellows. Collectively they hold nearly 200 patents, three doctorates and eight master's degrees.
Marcel Tromp
Marcel Tromp, 37, is appointed Fellow, Consumer Products Group. Tromp has extensive experience in architecting and managing complex SoC (system on chip) designs. He will be responsible for architecture and technology direction in the LSI Consumer Products Group. He is based in Milpitas, California.
Tromp joined LSI from Pixelworks, where, as vice president of engineering, he was responsible for media processor design and processor system architecture. Prior to Pixelworks, Marcel was chief architect and later vice president of engineering at Equator Technologies where he was responsible for all hardware, software, systems design as well as operations.
Tromp is a patent holder. He earned a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
Dr. Andrei E. Vityaev
Dr. Andrei Vityaev, 35, is appointed Fellow. Vityaev joined LSI from Broadcom Corporation, where he directed read channel engineering and development of key technologies such as 65nm architectures. He continues to focus on these areas at LSI as chief architect of the company's Read Channel project. He is based in Milpitas, California.
Vityaev holds eight patents. He earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from University of California, San Diego, and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Novosibirsk University in Russia.
