MILPITAS, Calif., March 24, 2004- LSI Logic Storage Systems, a leader in delivering technology that enables high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, has named William H. Kurtz as senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Kurtz, who has 25 years experience as a financial and operations executive in both Fortune 50 global companies and start-ups, will assume responsibility for all finance, investor relations and IT functions.

Kurtz was previously with 3PARdata, Inc., where he was chief operating officer and CFO. Prior to joining 3PARdata, Kurtz was CFO at Scient Corporation, where he helped grow the company from $16 million to $400 million in revenues and executed a successful initial public offering (IPO). Earlier in his career, he spent 15 years at AT&T Corporation in senior executive roles including CFO of the $25 billion Business Markets Division and AT&T Cost Czar, reporting jointly to the chief executive and chief financial officers of the company.

Kurtz is a board member and chairman of the audit committee at two publicly traded companies, Redback Networks and PMC-Sierra. Kurtz has a B.S. in commerce from Rider College and an M.S. in management from Stanford University, Alfred P. Sloan School of Management.
