Engenio Helps Make Wishes Come True
Company makes donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
MILPITAS, CA, August 17, 2004 - Engenio Information Technologies, Inc., formerly LSI Logic Storage Systems, Inc., today announced it is making donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America is the largest wish-granting charity in the world with 76 chapters in the United States and 27 international affiliates. The Foundation began fulfilling the dreams of children with life threatening illnesses in 1980 when a young Arizona boy realized his dream of becoming a police officer. Outfitted with a custom-designed police uniform, the boy was able to experience life on the force as he toured Phoenix by squad car and police helicopter. Since then, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 110,000 wishes of children who suffer from life threatening illnesses.
"We are pleased to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Ron Engelbrecht, Engenio Vice President Worldwide Engineering and Operations. "Caring for the less fortunate is a duty we all share. In order for a community to thrive, companies and individuals must do their part to ensure that those among us who are less fortunate are given every possible opportunity to experience life to its fullest."
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas was founded in 1985 and has since granted over 600 wishes. Kansas's children have had the opportunity to meet their favorite celebrities, visit Walt Disney World and travel to Alaska and Hawaii.
"The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas is very appreciative of Engenio's contribution," said Mark Finkeldei, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas, President-Elect of the Board of Directors. "The support afforded by both corporations and individuals enables us to grant more than 50 wishes per year. Local children will be able to realize their dreams, which provides hope and inspiration throughout the community."
