LSI Logic Demos Industry's First SATA II RAID Storage Adapter at Intel Developer Forum

MILPITAS, Calif. - August 31, 2004 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) will demonstrate the industry's first IOP-based SATA II RAID storage adapter, the MegaRAID® SATA 300-8X, inside two 3U, 16-bay Advanced Industrial Computer (AIC) storage server + expansion chassis at the Intel Developers Forum Fall 2004, held September 7-9 at the Moscone South Convention Center, San Francisco, CA.

From booth #817, LSI Logic will feature the first demonstration in the industry of a SATA II RAID adapter with Port Multiplier support, which allows users to connect up to 32 SATA hard drives using eight, 1-to-4 Port Multipliers; driving down the cost per port. In addition, benefits the Port Multiplier provides include:

The MegaRAID SATA 300-8X, ideal for entry-level to mid-range servers and network storage applications requiring a cost-effective and scalable SATA RAID interface, offers high data throughput, extensive fault tolerance capabilities and advanced management utilities. The SATA II adapter supports up to 32 devices with eight 1-to-4 Port Multipliers and provides twice the speed of SATA I. In addition, the MegaRAID SATA 300-8X features Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and enclosure management support.
