LSI Logic Introduces MyStorage Management Software Supporting 4Gb/s Fibre Channel and SAS
- Support of multiple technologies allows IT departments to reduce the resources required to manage storage systems, reducing Total Cost of Ownership.
- MyStorage to be demonstrated at the LinuxWorld Conference taking place August 9-11 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
MILPITAS, Calif., August 10, 2005 - As the only company in the storage industry providing both 4Gb/s Fibre Channel and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) host bus adapters (HBAs), LSI Logic today introduced the latest version of its MyStorage management software with support for both interfaces. By leveraging the newest version of MyStorage, which will be available to users later this month, IT personnel can manage multiples technologies in a system with a single software utility.
With the capability to manage both 2Gb/s and 4Gb/s Fibre Channel and Serial Attached SCSI, MyStorage eases the task of creating a tiered storage environment in todays data center. As IT managers look to leverage the performance capabilities of 4Gb/s Fibre Channel for complex SAN applications, while taking advantage of the SAS/SATA drive choice flexibility of SAS for mainstream and nearline applications, MyStorage allows users to reduce SAN installation time and simplify adapter management. With MyStorage, users can control and configure LSI Logic Fibre Channel and SAS HBAs in their Storage Area Network (SAN) in just three mouse clicks and manage all the adapters in their network from one server.
"As end-users continue to leverage multiple interfaces in their data centers to meet their tiered storage needs, it is essential that they have the software utilities available to them to ease their management tasks," said Charlie Kraus, director of LSI Logic's HBA division. "As LSI Logic is a provider of storage adapters across all interfaces, we are committed to providing management tools such as MyStorage that allow users to manage adapters of all I/O types, while reducing the resources needed."
LSI Logic will be demonstrating the latest version of MyStorage at this weeks LinuxWorld Conference. In booth 461, LSI Logic will be running a system that will be managed by MyStorage, featuring the LSI Logic SAS3442X HBA and the 4Gb/s Fibre Channel LSI7204XP-LC HBA, running Linux. The system will feature video on SAS and Fibre Channel, running movies and Iometer Performance, and will also backup data from hard disks to SAS and Fibre Channel.
MyStorage supports the complete line of LSI Logic SAS HBAs including the SAS3442X, SAS3080X and SAS3800X. These HBAs provide universal interconnect with Serial ATA while offering SCSI compatibility. MyStorage also supports the full family of LSI Logic 2Gb/s and 4Gb/s PCI-X Fibre Channel HBAs, which includes the PCI-X LSI7104XP-LC, LSI7204XP-LC and LSI7404XP-LC HBAs, and the PCI-Express LSI7404EP-LC HBA.
