LSI Logic Collaborates with Sun Microsystems to Deliver MegaRAID Adapter with Solaris 10 on X64/X86 Platforms
- MegaRAID Ultra320 SCSI PCI-X adapter now supports the Solaris 10 OS, with future PCI Express and SAS adapters to follow.
- This collaboration complements existing design wins with Sun utilizing the LSISAS1064 PCI-X to 4-port 3 Gb/s SAS controller.
MILPITAS, Calif. - September 28, 2005 - LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) announced today that it will port the MegaRAID® line to Sun Microsystems' Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS) for x64/x86. Once complete, LSI Logic and Sun customers will be able to cost-effectively manage, protect and share information, using MegaRAID systems and software with the Solaris 10 OS on X64/X86 processor-based systems. Supporting the Solaris 10 OS builds on LSI Logics goal to bring industry-leading I/O technologies to market, and to increase the RAID attach rate in the Solaris community.
Offering an extensive family of MegaRAID adapters, ranging from Ultra320 SCSI to 3Gb/s SATA II and SAS, LSI Logic MegaRAID solutions are designed for mid-range servers, direct attached storage (DAS) and high-performance workstations. The dual channel Ultra320 SCSI PCI-X MegaRAID adapter currently supports the Solaris 10 OS, on x64/x86 platforms.
